Kiel does not have or practice any magical powers. He bears Alcor's mark, after he summoned Alcor to give his blessing at a wedding and Alcor deemed him worthy of his protection. Details of Kiel's early life are unknown. He attended a university and studied Information Technology. It was while at college that he got involved with the Circle of the Dreamer's Star, which, at that point, was extremely small and only really known to college students. He graduated with a Bachelors degree, and got an unknown job that allowed him to work remotely from anywhere.<ref name="smallthings"/>
