The United Life Empire, or the UL, is an intergalactic government that appears in the Transcendence AU in Space Arc. It expanded into multiple galaxies during its Great Expansion period,[1] and then gradually dissolved into a pro-nat dystopia before fading from existence.[2]

History

The UL exists in various forms for billions of years. It began with the best of intentions, as an organization to unite the increasing number of spacefaring species humanity encounters as they enter the Space Age. With the increasingly limitless power of advancing technology and the relatively weak potential of human magicians, magic was seen as quaint and unnecessary from the beginning. Eventually, this served to sideline preternatural creatures and alien species who heavily rely on using magic.

During its Great Expansion Period, the UL colonized multiple galaxies and extended to its greatest limit. The Al-V Battleship Hack of 31733 happened here, briefly forcing most UL communications to be done in paper journals.[1] Two Mizars, Jay Rhysti-Du[3] and the Dread Pirate Mizar, were born in this period. The Dread Pirate Mizar became infamous for escaping from a UL prison, pirating a battleship, taking Captain Hadley hostage and terrorizing the Empire for a few days before being killed in a shootout.[4]

Over time, the massive UL began to lose influence and break apart into smaller nations and nomadic communities.
