A ghost is a soul that has not yet rejoined the reincarnation cycle (not to be confused with a soul that is currently reforming, or the form a soul takes while still in the cycle but before being reincarnated). Most ghosts remain because they have lingering attachments or missions that they don't wish to leave. The longer a ghost stays out of the cycle, the more they lose their personality and become obsessed with the thing that kept them there.[1]
