Belle was born with a serious lung condition. To give her a better life, her father, Lionel, made a deal with Alcor to fix her up- on the strange condition that he be allowed a place in the family as her twin.
With her brother and father's memories tampered with as part of the deal, she didn't find out the truth about Dipper's past until she was twelve years old, during a trip to Gravity falls.
Personality
A Mabel reincarnation, Belle is an optimistic and outgoing individual. She seems to harbor a strong love for nature, particularly animals.
Post finding out the truth, she goes through periods where she appears almost jealous of Mabel, feeling like she just can't compare to who she thinks Dipper wants her to be.
