Lacie is a basilisk who is magically bound to protect Sironus Animago's spellbook.[1]

Personality

Lacie is intelligent, snarky, and ambitious.

History

Lacie hatched in the London sewers, and spent the first few centuries of her life in a secret chamber guarding the spellbook of Sironus Animago. After realizing she was getting too big for her chamber, she made a deal with Alcor the Dreambender to give her a human disguise she could take on and off.

Appearance

Lacie is a snake-like basilisk, and several bus-lengths long. She has teeth the size of a human body, and horns crowning her head.

Abilities

  • Being a basilisk, Lacie has the ability to kill with a look. Her’s is especially potent among basilisks.
  • An intermediate level of shapeshifting; the ability to shift between basilisk and human form at will.

Relationships

Sironus Animago

Sironus Animago is the wizard who bound her to the spellbook. They never knew each other, as Sironus died shortly after she hatched, but she hates him and the spellbook with a passion. She finds his spells poorly made and unreliable, frustrating her further over her binding.

Alcor

Alcor is the first friend Lacie ever had. They met when she summoned him to break her binding to the spellbook. Though it didn't work out, they later made a deal for Lacie to have a human disguise she could take on and off. They enjoy eachother’s  company, and Alcor finds her humor to be refreshingly morbid.

Trivia

  • Lacie has an online blog called 18lacie5 where she posts the chapters of Animago’s spellbook in an effort to discourage treasure hunters.
  • She attends The Royal Mancunian University
  • Lacie used a wheelchair and crutches while learning to walk in human form.
  • She lives on a narrowboat called The Serpent’s Lair.
