The Melancholy of Mabel Pines

The Melancholy of Mabel Pines is a cartoon about Mabel and Dipper Pines. In it, Mabel unknowingly has reality altering magic, and Dipper has to keep her from learning about it. While many of the events in the cartoon are fictional, it is notable for accurately depicting the fact that Dipper is a demon, given that the majority of the world believes that Dipper died during the Transcendence.

Plot

The cartoon stars twins Dipper and Mabel. Mabel is hyperactive, quirky, and obsessed with the supernatural. Dipper also used to love the supernatural, but became quiet and disinterested after the last summer.

Mabel takes over the school's reading club and converts it into an occult club. She drags her brother along, because she wants to get him interested in the supernatural again. She also assimilates the two previous members of the reading club: Blendin and Wendy. They each take Dipper aside in confidence to tell him that they are a time traveler and a monster hunter respectively.

Dipper goes to his great-uncles for advice. They end up telling him that they are a slider and an esper. They also tell him that something happened last summer, something big and involving a demon, something so terrible that they had to wipe everyone's memories of the summer. They tell him that whatever happened left Mabel with reality altering powers that she doesn't know about, and that it is up to Dipper to make sure she never learns of them, because they are worried about the potential destruction a hyperactive teenager could cause.

As time goes on, Dipper finds clues pointing to Mabel not only having reality altering powers, but in fact actually being a demon.

In the show's finale, Dipper reveals his research to Mabel. She responds by giving him a memory cartridge that contains his memories from the summer. The memories reveal that it was actually him who was the demon.
